Aviation Museum

This world class attraction has arguably the finest collection in the world of flying historic aircraft.

That’s what makes Temora’s aviation museum so special compared to other destinations, as all the aircraft in its collection remain airworthy and continue to be flown on a regular basis.

Established in 1999, it has developed an impressive reputation for its display of military aircraft with historical significance to Australia.

Its lineup includes Australia’s only two flying Spitfires, and the oldest Tiger Moth still flying in the country.
The museum’s Wirraway was the first ex-military aircraft permitted to fly on the Civil Aircraft Register, while its World War II Hudson is the only one still flying in the world.

‘Halestorm’ is the only flying Gloster Meteor F.8 in the world, while the museum is also home to the only flying Canberra in Australia and the only Australian built Vampire flying in Australia.

If that’s not enough to feast your eyes on, the museum’s collection also includes a Cessna 0-2A, Ryan STM S2, CA-13 Boomerang, Cessna A37B Dragonfly and more.

Temora Aviation Museum usually hosts Aircraft Showcase Days twice a month - on the first and third Saturdays of the month - with the date for a Major Airshow each year to be announced.

A selection of the museum’s aircraft are featured on these days, and due to the close proximity of the aircraft, visitors are able to experience unique sights, sounds and aromas associated with this aeronautical experience.

You can be assured of a fascinating visit when you drop into Temora Aviation Museum, which achieves excellence at all levels of its operations.

And it’s not just all about the aircraft, as the creators of this museum have also been keen to honour those men and women who have served our country over the years.

They have worked to preserve the personal stories behind many of the aircraft, and ensure the memory of those who have risked their lives serving our country in foreign skies is honoured.

Even when a flying display is not taking place, the museum has plenty to offer with a 38 seat theatre with full surround sound, informative audio-visual presentations, landscaped gardens and a picnic area surrounding an aviation themed children’s playground and access to the aircraft on display in their hangar.

So take the time to drop into the museum and view its amazing collection – it’s a place which people return to again and again.
